What is Truck Queue and how does it relate to transport?

Truck Queue is a system for managing or booking time slots for trucks before they enter the port area. Its purpose is to sequence trucks picking up or delivering containers and to reduce trucks waiting without advance queue information.

People involved in this system usually include trucking companies, truck coordinators, drivers and operations staff handling the booking or containers. Before starting, check which system the terminal or relevant provider requires.

Why check the queue before sending a truck to the port?

Sending a truck to pick up or deliver a container involves several pieces of information, such as the booking, container number, truck plate, terminal and time slot. If the data does not match, the truck may not be able to work as planned.

Checking the queue in advance helps the transport team schedule trucks and give drivers clearer information, but it does not mean the truck will enter, leave or finish on time in every case, because this still depends on traffic, container readiness, terminal operations and on-site conditions.

Laem Chabang Port Truck Queue Booking: What to Know Before Your Truck Arrives

Laem Chabang is Thailand’s main port for import and export containers, and a large number of trucks pass through it every day. The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) is therefore pushing trucks to book a slot through the Truck Queue system before entering the port, to spread out container pick-up and drop-off times and to reduce waiting and traffic around the port. In 2026, the policy is for every truck picking up or delivering a container to use the queue booking system.

Laem Chabang is divided into several terminals, each run by its own operator, so booking channels, booking windows and conditions may differ. Before booking a truck queue at Laem Chabang, check the following:

  • Which terminal the container must enter or leave from, according to the booking or the shipping line
  • The terminal’s latest notice on truck queue booking, and who to contact if you cannot get a slot
  • The container status, for example an import container that has completed customs clearance and been released, or an export container that is within the terminal’s receiving window before the closing date
  • Travel time from Bangkok or the factory, so the truck reaches the port within the booked slot

If you prefer not to book queues or deal with terminals yourself, KTC Global Logistics can arrange container transport in and out of Laem Chabang Port together with customs clearance.

Information to prepare before booking a truck queue

  • Booking number or related job
  • Container number, if already assigned
  • Truck plate number and driver details
  • Terminal name or work point
  • Job type: container pickup, return or gate in/out
  • Date and time slot required
  • Confirmation from the shipping line, terminal or coordinator

Steps to check when using the system

1. Check which system to book through
Confirm with the terminal, shipping line or coordinator which Truck Queue channel to use and whether a user account is needed.

2. Check the booking and container are ready
The booking, container number and pickup or return status should be ready before booking; otherwise you may get a slot but still be unable to work.

3. Enter truck details and choose a time slot
Fill in the information the system requires, checking that the truck plate, date, time and work point match the transport plan.

4. Send the confirmation to the driver
After booking, send the reference number, queue or booking proof to the driver, together with the gate or contact point if confirmed.

5. Check the status again before the truck leaves
Check that the queue has not changed, the booking is still valid and the terminal has not announced changes affecting entry.

Precautions when using Truck Queue

Procedures, access channels, grace periods and port entry conditions may differ by terminal or by announcement over time, so do not rely on old articles instead of the latest requirements of the relevant authorities.

If you cannot book a slot or the system data does not match the booking, check with your coordinator before sending the truck. A queue booking alone does not confirm that the container is ready or that the terminal can serve you immediately.

No. In general, the booking is the transport or container reservation, while Truck Queue manages truck slots before work starts. The two sets of information must match.

You still need to check the terminal's conditions, booking status, container readiness and truck details. Having a queue slot does not guarantee the truck will finish on time in every case.

It depends on how each company organises the work. It may be the trucking company, the operations team or a coordinator who has the full booking, container and truck information.
